Overview
Lithium is handled as metal ingot, ribbon and foil, and as battery-grade lithium carbonate and hydroxide. The metal is packed and handled under argon and travels as UN1415 (lithium metal) under IATA/ADR dangerous-goods rules; the carbonate and hydroxide salts are far less reactive and are shipped as ordinary industrial chemicals.
